How big? You (and I've received confirmation that you do, in fact, exist, which is very exciting to me. The leap from zero readers to one is, mathematically speaking, infinite, so that's big news right there.) are about to find out.
I won second place in the Battle of the Bay (BOTB), and it feels pretty good! That's right, I'm the Adam Lambert/Susan Doyle (or is it Boyle) of comedy, what do you think of that?
I became a member of the newly formed "The Stand-Up Project," which is awesome. I'm sure I'll be writing about that later, but basically it's a group of SFCC comedians who are all trying to move into becoming professionals (at comedy). I don't know what to expect, except (Anagrams!) that I'll be immersing myself more fully into comedy.
When I did the BOTB I did a twelve minute set, which was the longest set I've ever done, until three days later when I performed at the El Rio for over fifteen minutes! It wasn't my best set, because I kinda petered out at the end, and I didn't leave myself with a good closer; but it also wasn't my worst, and I got a chance to get a feel for how a longer set needs to have a different sort of structure.
Then last night at Asia one of our customers introduced herself to me as someone who seen me at the El Rio, and was inspired to go to there because I had mentioned it on stage. She didn't say she went to see me, but it was still pretty cool. And my announcing at Asia has gotten a lot looser and (I think) better, which is a direct reflection of doing Stand-up.
Well, I probably should have spent that time updating the "Upcoming Shows" thing to the left, or working on material for those shows, but I didn't because I wanted to share some excitement with you (who exists).
