The Eighteenth
While summer (the season) is barely half over, summer (the vacation from school) is decidedly finished. And with the kids back in school, I have time to focus on the stuff that got pushed back to the recesses of my mind. For example, I accidentally took a long break from updating this website. I note this even though I’m pretty sure no one cares. But I have to pretend. I have to assume an invested audience exists for this to work. And to get myself to do this and continue to move forward. Just as I assume gravity will continue to work with every step I make, even though the only guarantee it will is that it always has before. Gravity always shows up. Maybe an audience who keeps a watchful eye on my writing schedule will show up too. Lol I’d probably hate that though. I’d chafe even under that slight pressure, unable to form a sentence knowing even one person was waiting impatiently on a whole string of them. But I’d be willing to get used to it.
Anyway, I didn’t take a break from writing. Just updating on here. Where I have been writing is on Medium. I did mention I’d be doing that in this post. And in that same post, I also claimed I’d always publish the same stuff on here. Which I did for a while! Here are some examples:
But, well, after a lot of mental back and forth (and time spent formatting everything I wrote twice,) I decided to try a different approach. I’ll be making posts with links to the stories over on a blog dedicated to that (still on this website though). And while they are “Medium-members-only” stories, those links will get you to the other side of the paywall. I’m hoping this new way will help get the ball rolling on Medium but I don’t really know if it’ll work or what. So please, comment your thoughts below: Is the new way annoying? Does the extra click keep you from checking it out? Or maybe you’re a Medium member and now you’re glad to be able to help put a few cents in my electronic pocket? Let me know!
